What does a AI Policy Advisor?

(AI Policy Advisor) As an AI Policy Advisor, you develop strategic policy guidelines for the implementation and regulation of artificial intelligence within government organizations and public services. You analyze complex AI legislation such as the EU AI Act and translate it into practical policy measures that both stimulate innovation and manage risks. In close collaboration with lawyers, technical specialists and policymakers, you create frameworks for responsible AI adoption. You advise top management on compliance issues and represent your organization in national and international AI governance discussions.

Required Education

For this position, you need at least a master's degree in law, public administration, philosophy of technology, or a comparable field. A background in N&G or E&M at VWO level provides a good foundation, where subjects like social studies, economics, and mathematics are relevant. Additional specialization in AI ethics, technology governance, or digital law through postgraduate courses is highly desirable. Alternatively, extensive work experience in policy advice combined with AI knowledge can compensate for formal educational requirements.
