Pulmonologist

(Longarts) As a pulmonologist, you specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of lung and respiratory tract disorders. You treat patients with complex lung diseases such as lung cancer, COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis and respiratory tract infections. In your daily practice, you perform specialized examinations such as bronchoscopies, interpret chest X-rays and CT scans, and develop treatment plans in consultation with multidisciplinary teams. You work closely with other specialists such as thoracic surgeons, oncologists and intensivists, and guide patients through complex treatment pathways where you provide both curative and palliative care.
