What will you learn?

(Ondernemen) In the AD program in Entrepreneurship, you learn all essential skills to successfully start your own business or fulfill a leadership role within an organization. You receive comprehensive knowledge of business operations, marketing, financial management, legal aspects, and human resources policy. Subjects like business economics, marketing and communication, project management, and business law form the core of the curriculum. Additionally, you develop practical skills in networking, pitching, business planning, and customer relationship management. What makes this AD unique compared to a full HBO bachelor's degree is the direct focus on entrepreneurship and practice-oriented applications, making you ready for the job market within two years. The program includes concrete projects where you develop your own business plan, internships at startups or SME companies, and collaboration with real entrepreneurs as mentors. This program is perfect for ambitious students with an entrepreneurial spirit who want to quickly start their own business or aspire to a management position.

Required Education

For admission to AD Entrepreneurship, you need at least an MBO level 4 diploma, preferably in a commercial or economic field, or a HAVO/VWO diploma. The HAVO profile Culture & Society (C&M) or Economics & Society (E&M) aligns best with this program, as these profiles contain subjects like economics, history, and social sciences that form a good foundation for entrepreneurship and business studies. Mathematics A is usually required due to the financial aspects of entrepreneurship, and Dutch at a sufficient level is essential for communication and writing business plans. Some universities of applied sciences require a motivation letter or conduct an intake interview to assess your entrepreneurial motivation. Alternative admission is possible through a 21+ test for adults without the proper preliminary education, or through a bridging program if your diploma falls short in certain subjects. Work experience in the commercial sector is often seen as an advantage in the selection process.

Career Prospects

After completing AD Entrepreneurship, you can start directly as an entrepreneur with your own business, or work as a team leader, account manager, sales representative, or assistant manager at SME companies and larger organizations. You find work in various sectors such as retail, hospitality, consultancy, e-commerce, marketing and communication agencies, or business services. Starting salaries range between €2,200 and €2,800 gross per month, depending on the sector and region, while successful entrepreneurs naturally determine their own income. Growth opportunities are excellent: you can progress to a full HBO bachelor's in Business Administration, International Business, or Marketing, allowing you to obtain a complete HBO bachelor's degree within an additional one and a half to two years and gain access to more senior management positions.

Impact of AI on this program

AI automates routine tasks in AD Entrepreneurship: reporting, analysis, and administration. Strategic thinking, leadership, and human judgment become more valuable. Professionals who master AI tools have a competitive advantage.
