Your week starts on Monday with a big lecture [hoorcollege: a class where one teacher speaks to many students at once]. Sometimes there are a hundred students in the room. Today the topic is quantum mechanics — the science of how tiny particles behave. You take notes and then ask a question through an app. At home you read the matching chapters again. That easily takes two extra hours.
On Tuesday you have a maths tutorial [werkcollege: a small-group class where you practise exercises]. There are about twenty students. You work on differential equations — mathematical formulas that describe change. Wednesday is lab day. You work with one fellow student in a laboratory. Today you measure electrical signals in cell walls. Afterwards you write a report about the measurement. That report is due on Friday.
