Your week starts on Monday with a lecture on Media History. A lecture is a class where the teacher talks and you listen and take notes. You sit in a large room with about fifty other students. This week the topic is the history of documentaries. After the lecture, you work through the material at home — at hbo [higher vocational education], you are expected to process a lot on your own.
On Tuesday you have a Camera and Lighting practical. A practical is a class where you practise with real equipment. In small groups of four or five students, you work with an actual camera and lights. You learn how to set up lighting for a film scene. On Wednesday you continue working on your screenplay project. Writing scripts takes more time than you'd expect. You rewrite your text several times, because the first version is rarely good enough.
