Career Prospects

After completing the MBO Social Care program, the doors of the healthcare sector are wide open for graduates. This program offers excellent job opportunities in various care organizations where direct contact with clients is central. Graduates can work as social care providers, residential supervisors, activity supervisors or personal supervisors at institutions for elderly care, disability care and mental healthcare. The work environments are very varied, from nursing homes and residential care centers to day care locations and home care organizations. There are also opportunities at municipal organizations, welfare institutions and in youth care. The work is characterized by personal guidance, supporting self-reliance and improving the quality of life of clients. Growth opportunities exist toward management positions or specializations within specific target groups. Expected Developments The opportunities for graduates are excellent due to the aging of the Dutch population and increasing care needs. The trend toward living at home longer and person-centered care creates new jobs. Threats include the ongoing staff shortages that can lead to high work pressure, and cuts to care budgets that can affect working conditions. Nevertheless, the demand for qualified care professionals remains structurally high.
