Law and Society

Monday starts with a large lecture — a class for many students at once. Today the topic is private law, which covers the rules between people and businesses. The room is packed with a hundred other students. You listen, take notes, and maybe ask a question through an app. After the lecture, you continue reading in your textbook on your own.

Tuesday and Wednesday are quieter, but you work hard. On Tuesday you have a werkcollege [small-group seminar] on public law, with groups of around twenty students. Together you discuss a court case from the news. On Wednesday you practise legal skills, like writing a legal opinion. You work with two or three fellow students on an assignment.
