(AI Content Moderator) As an AI Content Moderator, you control the output of advanced AI systems such as ChatGPT, DALL-E and other generative models. You assess whether the generated texts, images and other content meet quality and safety standards, and identify problematic content such as bias, toxicity or factual inaccuracies. Additionally, you provide structured feedback that is used for further training AI models via Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF). You work closely with data scientists, AI engineers and ethics teams to ensure the safety and reliability of AI systems.
For this position you need at least an MBO level 4 education, for example in ICT, communication or media. An HBO degree in for example communication, computer science or psychology gives you additional advantages. The HAVO profile C&M (Culture & Society) or E&M (Economics & Society) fits well with this role due to the emphasis on language skills and social aspects. Experience with content moderation, customer service or text editing can supplement formal education.
You often start as a junior content moderator or QA employee at social media platforms or tech companies. From AI Content Moderator you can grow to Senior AI Safety Specialist, AI Training Coordinator or AI Ethics Consultant. With additional technical training, transitions to Machine Learning Engineer or Product Manager AI are possible. Other growth opportunities lie in the direction of Data Annotation Lead or AI Policy Advisor.
AI has a paradoxical influence on your role: on one hand, AI creates the need for your work through the explosive growth of AI-generated content. On the other hand, AI also helps automate basic moderation tasks. Your role shifts to more complex assessments that require human expertise, such as identifying subtle bias or cultural sensitivities. The demand for your specialized knowledge of AI systems and ethics grows exponentially as AI further integrates into society.
