Required Education

If you come via HAVO/VWO, the Nature & Health (N&G) profile is most suitable, with strong performances in chemistry, physics and mathematics B as an important foundation. These subjects are essential because as a safety engineer you must understand complex technical systems and be able to make risk calculations. Some employers also accept relevant work experience in combination with additional certifications in occupational safety, but a technical background at HBO/WO level usually remains the standard.
