You can also choose this direction after HAVO or VWO with a profile such as Economics & Society or Nature & Technology. Subjects like economics, mathematics, and Dutch are important due to financial calculations, contract management, and client communication. After your MBO education, you must complete a mandatory NVM course to establish yourself as a certified real estate agent.
As a real estate agent, you often start as a junior employee at a real estate agency or begin with a traineeship after your real estate agent education. With experience, you can grow to senior real estate agent, team leader, or office manager, or start your own real estate agency. Many real estate agents specialize in certain market segments such as commercial real estate agent or residential construction real estate agent. The demand for real estate agents remains stable due to constant movement in the housing market, with digitalization offering new opportunities for more efficient service delivery.
AI is changing the role of real estate agent by automating tasks such as valuations and client communication. This shifts the skills that real estate agents need; instead of routine knowledge, technical skills and data analysis are becoming increasingly important. Real-time market analysis and personalized client approach require new expertise in AI tools. The employment market outlook is mixed: while some jobs disappear due to automation, new roles are also emerging that focus on strategic advice and client relationships.
